I was tooling around with some extension tubes a friend let me borrow and got a few shots of my Blackberry 8830. I’ll have to see what they are like in spring when some flowers start blooming and some insects are around. Right now, I just have to get a bit creative.
Just a lonely, dark, cold tree at a park close to home.
Or I should say…they don’t. At least they don’t do it very well.
I went to Sams to get an 11×14 and three 8×10’s in sepia. One was actually an antique conversion but it was close enough to sepia that it would work. Using Lightroom I did the simple sepia conversion on the others and tweaked the exposure a bit on the pictures and sent them off to Sams through the internet to be picked up later that day. There has been rumblings and photos all over the forums of Nikon’s new 16-85mm VR lens. Unfortunately it is a variable apeture (3.5-5.6) and not a constant one…I thought a f/4 would have been perfect. Even though, I’ll keep a look out to see what the reviews are like.
I butt up against the 35mm end of my 35-70 f/2.8 quite a bit and have been considering replacing it with the 17-55/2.8 or the Tamron 17-50/2.8. I have no qualms on the quality of the 35-70…just it’s range. The 16-85mm might be a good walkaround lens but I don’t know that it could really replace the faster 35-70 even with the bigger range.
Time will tell. So far postings have been lukewarm for this lens. It will most likely be the kit lens for whatever new camera Nikon will release next.
I’ve updated the look of the site. I wasn’t really happy with the black, depressing feel. A lot of places I read said that black will make the photos stand out better. Well, I wasn’t too thrilled with it. I still have to get lightbox working, but it’s pretty much done.
Anway, I’m using the Blue Box them make by the guy over at blogohblog. It’s very clean and simple. Thanks Jai!
This was from a while back but is one of my favorite portraits of the little guy. I love his expression. We’re going to use this one and a couple others in sepia and frame them.
Of coure the color version doesn’t look too bad either…
This may freak a few people out. Shot in macro mode with the 35-70mm 2.8 D. This was done back in the spring but thought it looked interesting in silhouette.
